Description
In the US, the month of November is dedicated to honoring the culture and contributions of the nation’s original inhabitants. To kick off Native American Heritage Month, today’s Google Doodle (11/1/2022) celebrates the life of the late We:wa, a Zuni textile artist, weaver, and potter. Born around 1849 in present-day New Mexico, We:wa was a Łamana (Zuni Two-Spirit) individual, meaning they assumed roles and tasks intended for men and women of the tribe.
The interactive Doodle, which invites Google visitors to learn Zuni weaving techniques, was designed by Zuni Pueblo artist Mallery Quetawki
Original Painting 18×36 inches acrylic on canvas. Print 10×19 on matte paper.
