Description
This painting was originally created as the 2022 La Cosecha Dual Language Conference Poster here in NM. The theme was to generate a painting that portrayed New Mexico’s main languages. I chose to highlight local indigenous languages (including the indigenous languages spoken in the Southwest USA, Mexico and Central America) and Spanish. This combination and solidarity of cultures is supported by the many indigenous dual and multi-lingual speakers of the region. This painting signifies those strong bonds of our culture through language. This solidarity existed before the borders were created between reservations, states and countries.
***This painting is currently displayed as an enlarged duplicate at the entrance to the Grounded in Clay exhibit at the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York City through June of 2024.
Comes in 3 sizes. Large poster includes wording from La Cosecha Conference. Signed and Rolled in tube about 22×28 inches
